Saturday, February 15 (8:00am-12:00pm)
Mike Newhouse, owner of First Aid Northwest, leads this 4-hour First Aid/CPR class, essential for workers who are exposed to a higher-than-usual risk of hazards on the job site. Students will have the opportunity to learn and interact through hands-on practice with an emphasis on quick response.
This comprehensive course is designed to equip attendees with essential life-saving skills and knowledge to effectively respond in emergency situations. Based on current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines, the course covers a wide range of critical topics, including proper 911 access, CPR techniques, and the use of Public Access Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
Through hands-on experience with AED operation and defibrillation, learners will also gain a solid understanding of related laws, such as the Good Samaritan Law. The curriculum explores medical conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes, providing individuals with the skills to recognize symptoms, administer appropriate treatments, and respond to medical emergencies with confidence.
The class also covers soft and hard tissue injuries, including the recognition and treatment of bleeding, burns, fractures, and spinal injuries. Emphasis is placed on both practical skills and theoretical knowledge, ensuring all attendees are prepared to manage emergencies in a variety of settings.
By the end of the course, students will be equipped to make critical decisions, provide immediate care, and potentially save lives.
Who can attend this class? This class is open to all individuals 18 and older. We encourage everyone in the industry — whether you’re in the field or in a supervisory or administrative role — to attend.
